Learning what everybody else already knows

Written last night:

Dear Friends,

It’s been gloomy and rainy here for several days, but it’s getting warmer.

Last week my friend Susan said I have a terrible sense of direction, and she’s right. (Clark was the exact opposite— he always knew his place in the universe.) I love to explore — I just don’t know where I am when I do it!  Siri is a help. Today Zing and I followed Siri to Roseville, where the good shopping is.  I cruised the side-mall — the little one across the street from the big one — and it’s amazing what a person can buy in a hurry. Tomorrow we’re going to the big mall and who knows what I’ll get there!? Not much, I hope. I simply want to put these everyday Sacramento places in my muscle memory. I want Rosa to know how to get there automatically (pun intended!). I’m coming to life: I plan to drive out farther and in different directions at least once a week. Placerville, here we come!

That and some financial stuff is what happened today. And I’m still working with Zing: We seem to have plateaued with the UC-Davis training. He eats a treat for two minutes, and then goes to the door to wait for me. No progress, time-wise. Lately Zing  also loves to curl up on the couch with Mona’s quilt (thanks, Mona!) and I want to take advantage of that by encouraging him to stay relaxed  (no barking!) on the couch instead. Treats are involved.

And I painted one of the Valentines.

Love,
k
