A quilter will naturally like collage. Right? Both create a whole from disparate bits. The more I learn, the more I love collage. Everything is fair game: video, audio, dance, painting, and my favorite -- ephemera -- the stuff you pick up on the street. The mix can be jarring and/or a fresh thrill.
In a recent
New York Times style section I discovered an ad for Boss by fashion photographer duo Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. Their soft-sharp, streetwise style inspires me. OK, so it's commercial. But I love it.
The images could be stilled-down into quilts, too.
