Foul weather Sunday

Written last night:

Dear Friends,

Today I wore my foul weather gear when Zing and I walked in the rain. It’s my sturdy old yellow raincoat for boating — velcro and zippers and hood perfect for keeping a sailor dry.  Putting it on reminded me of standing unsteadily in a boat in the storm. It worked. And when we returned Zing shook the raindrops off and got a good toweling. I don’t know what to expect of the weather tomorrow, but the wind storm that was promised did not make it to midtown Sacramento today.

It is Sunday, so I didn’t push it, doing one chore I'd been putting off -- prepared an addition to my design wall by covering thick foam insulation with white felt. It requires getting down on your knees and cutting and gluing. Tomorrow I’ll line it up straight and use double-sided tape to stick it to the studio wall.

I also talked with Patrice and with my high school friend Susan of San Jose.

Then Zing and I worked on the in-and-out routine. A new neighbor has moved in next door, and he passed me several times, just lingering in the hall outside my door, wearing my jacket and scarf and also bedroom slippers ... waiting for a minute to pass so I could turn the key to my apartment and go in again. I cannot imagine what he thinks I’m doing — there wasn’t a proper time to tell him.

I hope you are enjoying these moments of deep winter.

Love,
k

Cut and paste:
I will cover the silver-topped insulation with the white felt
and then tape it to the wall
for a bulletin-board-like design wall
